antivanruffles: (Cry)

I was bitching about needing an easy writing exercise and Thalia suggested I make an EP for RPG!Mamoru (look I finally got it done!!!) and here it is!

It's nice and emo, because Mamo is nothing if not emo. :P Also it's fun to say "Emo Mamo"

Age 10:
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths

Living in the orphanage, completely alone and seemingly unwanted, with no memories of his life before. Mamoru wants nothing more than a family, something that is his and his alone. He yearns for a home and stability. Since he’s still so young, he holds out hope.

Age 16:
I'm Not Like Everybody Else - The Kinks

By the time he was a teenager Mamoru had become jaded, resentful of the life he was forced to live. Thanks to a small inheritance and hard work he was able to move into an apartment, determined to make it on his own. Determined to be his own man, to make a life for himself--to be normal.

Even at this point in his life, through, he knew there was something about him, not just his life and history, but something more. Something he needed desperately to figure out.

Age 17:
She’s Not There by The Zombies

AND

Walking With a Ghost by Tegan and Sara

As Mamoru has aged he’s started dreaming of a young woman, he only sees her through a haze in his sleep, but he knows that she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. It all seems so real--like memories-- but when he wakes in the morning it is to an empty room and an even emptier heart.

Age 18:
Stars by Switchfoot

With the dreams becoming more and more frequent and real, Mamoru decides it’s time for him to change. He was used to things in Japan and he had lived there for as long as he could remember, but it didn’t feel like home. Not really.

He had been accepted to many colleges and he decide he would attend one abroad. With the move and new scenery he felt hopeful for the first time in years. He would have a fresh start, he would be more open, he would make friends and have a life.

Maybe this would lead him to the answers he knew he must find. Maybe this would lead him to the girl in his dreams.

Maybe he would finally be the person he wanted to be.

Age 20:
I Ain’t No Miracle Worker by The Brogues

Run down and stretched the max, Mamoru can’t shake the dreams in which the girl is becoming more and more urgent for him to find her and it. What ‘it’ is, he isn’t sure and has no way of figuring anything out.

There are nagging thoughts, perhaps memories, in the back of his mind that he can’t make out. They seem to slither through his fingers like strands of silken hair--whose hair, he isn’t sure.

He so badly wants to find the woman and the thing she wants so desperately, because he’s sure she holds the key to his past. He so badly wants to do good, too. He studies hard and volunteers at the hospital, all the while shutting himself off to the world around him.

He wants to do it all--save lives, save the girl, save himself-- but he is slowly wearing himself out.

Mamoru is so tired and more withdrawn than ever before. Things need to change before he breaks.
