Day 27: What has Sailor Moon done for you?
Very rambly
So okay. The path of Sailor Moon has been a long one, I first watched it when I was like 13 and I'm almost 27 now. It's by far the longest fandom I've actively been in, it was my first real fandom, actually. Back in the day it was all about searching out more content, it was how I got into fanfic. It's the only fandom I really actively write fanfic for. Which is a big deal
Searching out fanfic was an interesting thing, I just really craved more everything. Through fanfic I learned more about the manga (because back then it was near impossible for me to actually find it), I learned about the shittenou. I learned about this glorious thing called shipping. I learned about fandom through Sailor Moon and through its fanfic.
Sailor Moon fanfic lead me to find all sorts of neat websites... mainly the one site that I can't think of the name of right now... OMG! WHAT WAS IT? shit fuck piss. OH WELL! I FOUND AS WE WERE ON THERE and stalked V like a mofo. Then I found her on ff.net then I found her LJ... then I found shitennou_ai and all of you. So I stalked y'all like a mofo.
At this point in time (meaning however many years ago this was... 2000 and something) I'll say that Sailor Moon had permeated my entire life. I don't know what it's like not to have Sailor Moon, not to have the fanfic and the fanon and all the headcanons. It's just there.
Now back to my bit about Sailor Moon fanfic because I slowly started creeping into shitennou_ai and posting things because I was starting to write again, and I started not lurking and commenting and so I got invited into CHAT! OMG CHAT! I was nervous and scared because this was basically all the people I stalked in one place. HA!
So flashfoward a bit. I did the Highlander thing at the urging of people (coughVcough) and that really jump started the whole writing thing. I also made friends with y'all (obviously), and that has been the most awesome thing ever in the history of ever.
So long story short.
What has Sailor Moon done for me?
It has helped learn and develop a passion for writing, helped to me realize that's what I love and want to do. It has proved me with some of the best friends that I have ever had in my entire life. Not that I haven't ever had friends, but I've always felt like one sided friendships, people always cared more about themselves and what I could do for them, then me as a person or friend. I've ended several friendships because of this.
But all y'all are so amazing and wonderful and nice, and you all are some of the greatest friends ever (and ESPECIALLY Thalia and Sandy and Rae you are my BFFs whether you like this shit or not you have been claimed no turning back. Sorry not sorry).
And THAT is what Sailor Moon has done for me!
