I hate you LJ, I went to edit something in the original post and then it screwed up the formatting. So, I'm reposting since I couldn't get it to revert it back to the original format. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Part One) (Part Two)

Jace sat alone in his office studying a pile of dossiers. Mina’s was one, full of detailed accounts of her exploits before the Royal Academy and after. Next to it lay the bare files of Rei and Zane; thus far the only information Jace had been able to glean were their names (or at least what they went by), ages, and the fact Zane was a hacker and Rei was… sneaky.

Next to those two were the PCDs for the other members of the Pax Team. One for the American, Matthew Emerson; although he was more commonly known now as “Nash”--a nickname he earned after he left his home town of Nashville, Tennessee.

Nash was second in command of the Pax Team and one of Jace’s best friends. Picking up the PCD, Jace glanced toward the picture in the corner that showed a smiling man with dark brown eyes and brown hair in a short buzz cut. Nash was loud and brash, but charismatic and loveable at the same time; a bit like a puppy.

As a teen he had been a trouble maker, although Jace could argue he still was. He’d been shipped off to military school after one too many run ins with the law. However he had actually applied himself and breezed through boot camp to quickly make rank. And probably shocking all of his supervisors along the way.

Jace glanced over the information, grinning at all the reprimands and write ups Nash had gotten over the years. When Nash hit his early twenties he had signed up with the Navy SEALs and made a name for himself as a bit a of a hotshot. The reprimands continued.

Jace laughed under his breath, and pulled another PCD closer. This belonged to a Melita “Lita” Russo. Emerson now, Jace mentally corrected himself. Lita was vivacious, Italian and the best sniper he’d ever met.

Her parents had died in the war and she had shuffled around Italy for several years before joining up with a mafia family. The boss had taken pity on the poor orphan, allowing her to do odd jobs and attend school. Though after graduation she asked to join to the family in a more stable position. Lita had proved herself a skilled fighter and quick learner, and by the time she was twenty she was a first class sniper.

When she was twenty-four her family had gotten caught up in a feud with another Cosca. and head of the family had ended up dead. Lita had been lost, but--by either luck or fate--it was not long before she was contacted by Silver Alliance, and recruited to their ranks.

Jace was grabbing another PCD, trying to figure how well the new recruits would fit in, when a deep voice outside his door caught his attention.

“Think the newbie will be any good?” The voice was deep, with a decidedly southern American accent.

“Hard to say until we get them into training, but I do trust Jace’s instincts.” The second voice was famine and colored with a thick Italian accent.

Speak of the Devils, Jace snorted to himself a moment before his door opened all the way, and Nash entered closely followed by Lita.

Nash didn’t even bother saying hello before plopping down on the leather chair in front of Jace’s desk. Lita clicked her tongue while shaking her head at the office, before she started moving around the room; putting it all in order.

“How do you find anything of importance in this place?” She muttered as she bent to retrieve a holster from the floor.

“It’s not that bad!” Jace muttered.

“Yes, it is.” Lita pointed to a tray of half eaten food that had seen far better days. “Is that a science experiment?”

“I, for one, am glad he lives like a slob. It means I get to watch your ass while you pick things up.” Lita turned slowly to glare at her husband; he merely offered her up a toothy grin while waggling his eyebrows suggestively.

“That,” she frowned, “is exactly why I didn’t like you when we first met. Perverted bastard.” She turned around and flounced to a couch in the corner--away from Nash--muttering a string of Italian curses under breath.

Nash’s laugh was loud and deep as it boomed around the room. Pushing himself out of his chair, he lumbered over to his wife, sinking down next to her on the couch. The springs of the ancient piece of furniture were worn and creaked under his weight, causing Lita to slide close to his side, where he proceeded to wrap an arm around her shoulders.

Il mio amore,” he whispered against her neck.

“Your pronunciation is still atrocious,” she murmured as she tilted her head back, allowing him better access.

“The sentiment is still the same.” He started kissing a path up her neck to her waiting lips.

“For the love of God, please go back to your own office to do that shit!” Jace moaned, his head banging against his desk. Lita snapped to and shoved Nash away, causing him to pout slightly.

“Sorry.” She murmured, face turning red.

“I’m not sorry, you could just leave us alone.”

“It’s my office, you idiot!” Jace glared at Nash for a moment before brightening some. “Hey! Want to meet the new recruits?” he asked.

Recruits? As in more than one?” Lita‘s eyebrows disappeared under her wispy bangs.

“Yes! Three, it seems they are a matched set.” Jace moved out from behind his desk, still grinning. “I think you’ll like them.”

“Right, let’s get this over with then. After you, oh fearless leader.” Nash grumbled as he stood, ushering Jace out the door.

“I feel like I’m in a prison.” Zane leaned back against the wall, arms crossed and lips pursed in a pout. They were currently in a dark room with uncomfortable chairs, a small table in the middle, and no natural light.

“It’s Rei’s fault.”

“Don’t pin this on me! You were going to say yes.” Rei rocked back in her chair and placed her feet on the table.

“That doesn’t matter!” Mina glared.

“It matters to me! You both dragged me here.” Zane continued to pout, sinking to the floor in mild despair. “I worked so hard to keep out of jail, to stay off the grid. I knew working with you was a bad idea!”

“Oh, Jesus. Stop with the hysterics Król!” Rei rolled her eyes.

“Why? Can you ninja your way out!?” He looked up with eyes full of hope.

“I’m not a damn ninja, you moron!”

“Then you’re useless to me!” Zane threw his hands in the air. “How do we know this isn’t some experiment, maybe they’re going to torture us and do horrible, unspeakable things.”

Now Mina rolled her eyes at Zane. “You already confirmed he really is enlisted with Silver Alliance, I’m quite certain such things don’t go with their overall theme.”

“Who knows what sordid things happen behind closed doors.” He touched a finger to the side of his nose, one eyebrow arched, and Mina was tempted bang her head--or his--against the table.

The door to the room opened then, bringing the glare of florescent lights and three dark silhouettes. Jace stepped inside first and greeted them, stepping aside to let the other two in.

“Alright, if I may introduce the new recruits. We have--”

“Mina Aeryn,” Nash shook his head. “I never thought I’d see the day.”

“You know her?” Lita looked at him askance.

“Sure do. Back when I was with the SEALs, I worked with her and Interpol to bring in… you, actually.” Nash turned to Zane, who looked much like a deer caught in the headlights. “Well, hell. This is interesting.” He gave a low whistle and scratched the back of his head.

“Nice to see you let anyone be on your little team, Major.” Mina said tartly.

“Now what’s that supposed to mean, sweetheart?”

“That means you are a reckless, American jackass!” Mina surged to her feet and turned to Jace. “I think we made a mistake coming here.”

“The only mistake made was that Jace invited you!” Nash glared.

“Look here, hop along, I’m trying to have a civilized conversation with the Major here, I know that’s a bit much for your pea brain to comprehend!” Mina placed her hands on her hips and glared back.

Jace rubbed his forehead as the exchange turned more and more vicious. He leaned behind Nash’s back and caught Lita’s eye.

“Will you please control him?”

Lita gave him an incredulous look and pointed at her husband’s back. “You think I can control him?”

“If anyone can, it’s you. Please just get him to shut up so I can sort it out?”

“Fine, fine.” Lita blew out a breath and moved to stand in front of Nash. “Be quiet and listen to Jace or no sex for a week.”

Nash slowly swiveled his eyes toward his wife. “What was that?”

“You heard me.”

“That is extremely unfair.”

“He said to control you, I do what I have to.” She shrugged.

Nash pinched his the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. After a moment he turned to Jace and offered a slight bow.

“Continue on, sir.”

Jace ran his knuckles over his mouth, breathing heavily through his nose while he counted to ten. Finally he got his temper under control and turned to the group at large. A bright smile in place.

“Okay, I’m ready for the story. How do you two know each other… Mina?” He said pointedly when he saw Nash open his mouth. Mina scowled and sat back down, crossing her legs and arms.

“When I was with Interpol we were tracking down a worldwide hacker named Zoisite. That one, there.” She nodded over her shoulder toward Zane.

“We had one mission where we worked with the US Government and I met him,” She all but glared at Nash. “He was a loud mouth, obnoxious flirt who thought I was delicate little doll who couldn’t do my damned job! The ass nearly got me killed in London by blowing my cover with an informant.”

“THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT!”

Mina narrowed her eyes venomously, swept her long hair to one side and yanked on her shirt to expose her shoulder, the skin rough and marred by an inch long scar. “Yes, an accident.”

“What about me? I was shot!” Nash grumbled.

“Not by any fault of mine, you idiot!”

At this point the room was full of tension and anger, both Mina and Nash at the boiling point. It was at this moment that Lita giggled. Five pairs of eyes swiveled toward her.

“What?” she held out her hands. “It sounds just like you, Nash.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be on my side?” He whined.

“Not when you’re obviously in the wrong.” Ignoring him, Lita turned to Mina and smiled kindly. “I know he’s difficult to get used to, but he is actually sweet. And while it might seem like he’s a pig, it’s not meant badly.”

“A pig? Thanks, dear.” Nash tossed his arms in the air and turned his back on the group.

“I promise I’ll do my best to keep him in line, if you’ll stay? I know Jace wouldn’t have asked, if you wouldn’t be a great asset.” Lita nodded encouragingly.

“Fine, I’ll stay. But if he oversteps the line even once, I’m gone!” Mina glanced toward Jace. “Is that clear?”

“Crystal.” Jace grinned and clapped his hands happily. “Right, now if you three don’t mind? We’d like to run a few tests.”

“Tests?” Zane looked up. “What are we now, lab rats?”

“You are being recruited by Silver Alliance, it’s just to assess your strengths, weaknesses. Combat knowledge. Things like that.” Jace nodded slowly.

Zane frowned at Jace. “You do know that I’m wanted by nearly every organization on Earth, right?”

“You were wanted by every organization on Earth. But the Alliance never really had a problem with you. Right now I just know of Zane Król, computer technician and possible new recruit.”

“My file is clean?” He arched an eyebrow.

“Your file is clean, assuming you pass all the tests.”

“Assuming I pass the tests and meet your requirements for combat knowledge and strengths and weaknesses.”

“Along with a complete physical and psychological evaluation.” Jace smiled.

Rei made a noise in the back of her throat and stood up, clapping Zane on the back. “I’m pretty sure that rules you out then."

Aaaaaaaand SOLD!

Of course she comes in and tidies up. That's my kind of girl. (I am a bit OCD about that sort of stuff too.) And you married them! Awww! They're all together, and as wholesome and happy as two secret agents can be!

“Yes! Three, it seems they are a matched set.”
Three for the price of one! :D
The Silver Alliance is rather clever, isn't it? They don't necessarily play by the rules, they hire who is best for the job, regardless of what that person has done before that might be... morally questionable. I mean, Lita is a murderer, Zane is an internet criminal, and I don't even want to know (except that I totally, totally do) what your Kunzite is going to be like when he appears.

“Who knows what sordid things happen behind closed doors.” He touched a finger to the side of his nose, one eyebrow arched, and Mina was tempted bang her head--or his--against the table.
Oh honey, I do think he's onto something there. The SA has a goal, and I don't think there are many things they won't do to achieve it.

Rei made a noise in the back of her throat and stood up, clapping Zane on the back. “I’m pretty sure that rules you out then."
Tehehehe! WIN!
